Restain

Everyday I walk by the Borders by my work, and if no one in the store is blocking my vision, I can see the knitting magazines. There is a new Vogue Knitting out, and while the past few years have been somewhat disappointing, I like to add it to my collection. The only magazines that I will always buy are Vogue and Interweave, everything else is shit. I also beleive in supporting your LYS, unless you're out of money and can only go the eBay of KnitPicks route. Much to my dismay, my LYS did not have the new copy of Vogue. Do I wait until she calls me, which I already asked her to do and if I do buy it from her now I'll look like a bitch (and mind you she sells my stitchmarkers occasionaly) or do I get the issue from Borders? How long can I hold out?? I think if it were Interweave I would just buy it now, I love it so much more, but on the otherhand, Vogue is always good for a laugh or two. Mona's 10th birthday was on the 23rd, I miss her so much. Since I don't know Bella's birthdate, I'm going to go with the day I adopted her, March 11th, and start at year 7.

Mysterious Car Ailments

I hate my car, seriously, it's 12 years old now and only has 69,000 miles, and it goes dead every 6 months for no apparent reason, which leads me to, I hate my job. If I had a better job at a better company with better pay that treats me better, I would and could afford a better car. Catch 22 isn't it. Bella's doing well, I've got her on a nice routine, and there haven't been any accidents in the house for several days. The crating is going well, she no longer freaks out when she's in there, but I do have to force her in. On the knitting front, not much, still working on the Noro sweater, very slowly though, and not on the patterns part, it's me. I watch tv and totally forget that, oh, I could be knitting too! I was able to get ahold of my cousin Adam last week about tickets to one of his concerts, still waiting to here back because the concerts are this weekend. That's it.

Primary Colors

Yup, I did the patriotic thing yesterday and voted in the Primaries. I won't bore you and tell which side I voted for,(if you know me at all it would be obvious) I don't think it will matter much anyway they're all crooked anyway right? And if you want a sign of what to expect ahead in the campaigns and elections you could have seen the sign where I voted. I go right up the street to my neighborhood field house and vote there. Ususally it's in one of the little gyms, but yesterdays primary election voting booths were in the mens locker room, ugh! What a sign of the times, now I understand why they didn't care that I had the dog with me, she made the room smell better!

Weekend UpdatePart Deux!

Rachel and her boy Roman.

Can you tell that Linda and I have had a few? While not a flattering picture of my usually chunky self, it is a funny picture.

Joy's boy has a weird thing that during the 7th frame you throw the ball, between the balls, um legs. And no, he doesn't work at the bowling alley as I mistankenly thought, he's a wicked boy that Dan, welcome to the group!

Drinking and bowling go as well together as drinking and knitting, it's fun to do but don't expect to get to far. This was shot just after Rachel and I were trying to pose but I bopped her in the head with my ball, oops!

Weekend Update

I have the day off today! Woke up this morning and took Bella for a nice long walk, to DunkinDonuts, ah coffee! I won't bore you with bowel movements today. Still a little sore in the hip from bowling Saturday Night. Rachel hosted a 6-week cancer free! bowling party at a dive of an alley called Fireside Bowl, it was a blast. We started ealry at Chief O'Neils, I was so disappointed that they were out of Cider, it's all I have been craving, there's nothing better than cider on tap, damn Irish and their St. Patty's Day drunkin partying!
The Guiness cheese soup was divine. I haven't bowled in at least 5 years and I peaked by the second game, won that round with my all time high of 109!! I'm very proud of myself.

It was a great group of people there, Rachels had friends from school, SnB, and personal friends who all seemed to still be knitters, a common underlying theme in her life? She got snookered, I started to but stopped befroe the last game which migh explained why I sucked the last round...There was lots of guiness, drinking, I banged her head with a bowling ball, don't ask, and fell my first time up. Oops, I blame it on my ole CTA injury from last week's commuting.
When too many knitters get together in a social setting one is bound to bring out the knitting eventually, this time the award goes to Linda!

Any time Valerie is around a camera you have to take the 'face' picture!
Some more bowling shots....
Well more photos to come if Blogger fixes its photo-uploading issues, ugh!

Congrats Rachel!

My New Baby...Bella

I haven't written in awhile, been dealing with the whole doggie adoption thing. I wasn't sure if I was going to get a dog, the e-mails and calls back and forth were making me worry, but last saturday I went to visit the foster home, and came back with Bella. She's beautiful, about 7 years old, knows basic commands, but her potty habits are worth shit! I've had to make some changes to her schedule, I told the foster family I wouldn't crate her, but right now I can't have her doing her business all over the house! So I've begun to crate her, it should teach her to hold it in until I get back. At first she was crazy about the cats, a now they tolerate each other, and hopefully soon Pie and Bella will even like each other. I'm also doing the POTTY walks, giving her little treats for going POTTY and am even trying the bell by the door method because I'm not getting her signals yet.
I'm really beginning to actually enjoy the walks. Don't get me wrong, I HATE getting up any earlier in the morning than I have to, but I do alot of thinking and it's been very interesting.

On the knitting front, the jaywalker socks are still at a standstill, I tinked back the the gusset decrease so I can decrease more and make them fit tighter, but I might frog the whole thing and go with a slight larger needles size so they relax alittle. I starte my Noro Silk Garden sweater with the yarn I bought from eBay. the first sleeve was a little loose in the stitches even though I like the swatch guage, so I start the second sleeve in a smaller needle and if I like it better I might just frog the first and redo it. I love that yarn!
